Helen L. Montgomery, 82 of Oakwood, IL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Hawthorne Inn of Danville. She was born on August 1, 1929 in Bismarck, IL, the daughter of Wilson K. and Elsie M. (Patterson) Plecker. Both are deceased. On February 22, 1948, Helen married Maurice M. Rick' Rubin. She later married Curtis G. Montgomery on October 22, 1965, He survives along with three children; Ricke (Pam) Rubin of Danville, Lorene (Lew) Lane of Potomac, and Donna (Paul) (Montgomery) Pittman of St. Petersburg, FL. Her four grandchildren; Franci Rubin, Garicke (DeeDee) Rubin, all of Terra Haute, IN, Matthew (Rachelle ) Lane, Kari (Eric) Taylor, both of Danville, and her ten great-grandchildren, also survive her. In addition to her parents, her three brothers, and one great-granddaughter preceded Helen in death. She was a 1947 Henning High School graduate. She worked for Dr. Howard Foster D.D.S., and was also hired on as the first female policewomen in the Danville area as dispatcher. She later was co-owner of Resale Boutique' in Danville. Helen enjoyed solving crossword, and jigsaw puzzles, and she and Curtis both enjoyed traveling together, including their many trips to their favorite truck stop. But most of all, she enjoyed and cherished spending time with her friends and family. She will be missed by all that knew her. A Celebration of Helen Montgomery's Life has been scheduled for 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, in Oakwood. Pastor Bill Connell has been asked to officiate the service. Visitation for friends and family will be from 1:00pm until time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the Montgomery family has asked that all donations be made to the Danville Cancer Center located at 806 North Logan Ave in Danville.
