Helen L. Jordan

Cayuga, Ind. - Helen L. Jordan, 92, 0f Cayuga, passed away at 11:14 p.m. EDT Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton, Indiana. She was born May 27, 1920 in North Bend, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Harrison and Ruth Robbins Grubbs. She married Walter S. Jordan, Jr. on February 19, 1940 in Newport, Indiana. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1984. Survivors include one son, Walter L. Jordan of Cayuga, Indiana; two daughters, Nancy(Ralph)Watts of Kingman, Indiana and Joyce Laws of Cayuga, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her grandson, four sisters, brother and son in law, Jude Laws. Helen formerly worked for the Cayuga Meals on Wheels, Cayuga Post Office and Windbreaker factory in Danville, Illinois. She was a member of the Cayuga Christian Church. Helen was a 1938 graduate of Cayuga High School. Her memberships included the Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 263 and the Perrysville Chapter #302 O.E.S. Helen enjoyed cooking and sewing. Funeral services: 2 p.m. EDT Friday, May 3, 2013 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Steve Vitaniemi and Keith Warner; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 6 to 9 p.m. EDT Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the funeral home with memorial services by the Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary at 8:30 p.m. EDT.
