Cayuga, Ind. - Helen L. Dye, 85, of Cayuga, passed away at 6:55 p.m. EST Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Brownsburg Meadows in Brownsburg, Indiana. She was born August 27, 1926 in Cayuga, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lee E. and Mabel E. Porter. She married Ottie J. Dye on May 12, 1945 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 28, 2008. Survivors include one daughter, Susan(Bob)Hill of Pittsboro, Indiana; one son, Ottie Joe(Anne)Dye of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Doug(Carrie)Hill of Marion, Indiana; Matthew(Emily)Hill of Columbus, Indiana; John Mitchell(Susan)Dye of Grand Island, New York; Mindy Jo Dye of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Shelly(Jarrett)Kral of Lake Charles, Louisiana; eleven great grandchildren and one brother, David W.(Virginia)Porter of Dana, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Morgan. Helen first worked for the former Cayuga High School(North Vermillion High School)as a secretary. She retired in 1986 from Uniroyal(Newport Ammunition Plant)after 20 years in the purchasing department. Helen was a 1944 graduate of Cayuga High School and was a life member of the Cayuga Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the Cayuga O.E.S. Helen enjoyed bird watching and taking care of her flowers. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Bono Cemetery Chapel in Bono, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Dave Buckner(Pastor Pittsboro United Methodist Church); Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. EST Sunday, January 8, 2012 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Burial: Bono Cemetery in Bono, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the Cayuga Presbyterian Church, PO Box 386, Cayuga, Indiana 47928 or to the Cayuga Park, Cayuga, Indiana 47928. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
