Helen E. (Robinson) Kilgore, 82, went to be with her Lord at her daughter's home at 1:21 PM, Thursday, June 30, 2016, surrounded by family members who loved and adored her. Helen was born in Fairmount on December 17, 1933, the daughter of Henry and Evelyn Mae (Booth) Robinson. On Valentine's Day in 1951, Helen married Robert E. (Bob) Kilgore and they spent the next 63 years together and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2014. Helen is survived by 6 children, Lee (Betty) Kilgore, Sandy (Sissy) (Rick) Delhaye, Missionary, Jim (Bonnie) Kilgore, Terrie (Mike) Chesrown, Cathy (Brett) Astell and Barbara (Patches) (John) Crain; 2 sisters, Connie Commisso of West Palm Beach, Florida and Lily (Bill) Files also of Florida. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 6 sisters, Margie, Betty, Jane, Geraldine, Nancy and Mary; 1 brother, Stanley (Butch); 1 grandson, Chuck Childers. Helen was one of the first 10 people hired at TeePak when the facility began operations in Danville. She retired after 35 years of employment. Helen was a very loving wife, mom and grandma; she was always ready to fix a boo-boo, or swat a behind, whatever was needed at the time. She was a wonderful cook. A favorite memory was on Christmas morning she always made ice box cookies before kids and grandkids could open presents. She has passed down many of her favorite recipes to her children and they in turn are being passed down to her great-grandchildren. Helen's family would like to send a special thanks to her home caregivers, Tammie Lappin and Carol Danbury. They both quickly became a special part of her family. Rick and Sandy are especially thankful for their love and devotion they showed Helen during their care of her. We would also like to thank Denise Zanders, Director of the Hawthorn Inn and her staff of caregivers as they were all absolutely wonderful in their care and support of mom. Mom was always so thankful for even the smallest of things they would do for her, especially getting her a cold Diet Pepsi. Also the Rainbow Hospice team, Jackie and Janet, came in and made sure we had everything we would need to help mom in her final weeks, days and even hours. They were always so sweet to our mom, but then she was very easy to be sweet to. Helen was an avid collector of Barbie dolls. It started out with one or two then quickly grew into a hobby of collecting a series like "Gone With The Wind", "The Wizard of Oz", "Lucy & Ricky", Marilyn Monroe just to name a few. At last count she collected over 350 dolls. Memorials may be made in Helen's name to the Alzheimer's Association. A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, 3 PM, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61834. Visitation prior from 1-3 PM. Officiating will be Helen's son, Missionary Jim Kilgore. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
