Helen J. Wallen

Helen J. Wallen, 95, of Danville, passed away at 9:35 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home. Helen was born on February 14, 1915 in Danville, the daughter of Howard and Goldie (Kyger) Johnson. She married Raymond Wallen on September 15, 1933 in Danville. He preceded her in death in March of 1984. She is survived by her son-Jim (Anna) Wallen of Bloomington, Illinois; three grandchildren- Bruce (Beth) Dowdy, David Dowdy and Susan Dowdy all of Paducah, Kentucky; and two great-grandchildren- Chad and Justin of Paducah. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter- Rosemary Dowdy, two brothers and a sister. Helen worked as a nurses aid at Lakeview Hospital for several years, until she retired in 1980. She was a member of Old Union Church and enjoyed spending time with her family. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Springhill Cemetery, with Pastor Miles Clark officiating. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
