Helen J. Grider

GROVE, OKLAHOMA- Helen J. Grider, 85, of Grove, Oklahoma, formerly of Georgetown, IL, passed away at 8:00pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the John Knox Village Care Center in Lees Summit, Missouri. Mrs. Grider was born in Georgetown, IL on May 27, 1921, the daughter of Glen and Fleta (Biggs) Yoho. Both her parents precede her in death. Helen married Sam Grider in 1940 and was blessed with two children. The Grider family moved to Kansas City, MO., in 1958 until Sam retired in 1974. After retirement, they moved to Grove, O.K., and they enjoyed 30 years of fishing and visits from their children and grandchildren. In 2004, Helen and Sam returned to Lee Summit, MO., where they resided at the John Knox Village. Helen leaves behind: her husband, Sam of 67 years; her daughter, Janet Stone of Independence, MO; her five grandchildren, Shelly Stone, Stacey (Robert) Beck, Mark Stone, David (Lorie) Grider, and Steve (Candra) Grider; her twelve great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grider, Brandon Grider, Blake Grider, Hayden Grider, Christa McMilian, Kelli McMilian, Taylor Beck, Paige Beck, Alexandra Beck, Travis Stone, Tyler Stone and Erica Stone; her sister-in-law, Maridell Yoho; and her nieces and nephews. Her son- Samuel Abe Grider and her brother-Harlan Yoho precedes Helen in death. Helen graduated from Georgetown High School in 1939, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and cherished her time spent with her family. A celebration of life for Helen Grider is scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E West St. in Georgetown. Officiating: Pastor Leon Korb. Final resting place will be at Georgetown Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1-2pm on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the funeral home.
