Helen Hackman

Danville - Hackman Helen L. Hackman, 86, of Danville IL., passed away at 5:08 am on Sunday May 5, 2013 at her home in Danville. She was born on March 7, 1927, to Ray O. and Mable (Curtis) Steele in Danville IL. Helen married Robert Hackman on November 23, 1946, in Covington IN., he survives. Other survivors include sons Daniel Hackman of Danville and David Hackman of Ellenton FL.; grandchildren Tricia Dyal of Jacksonville NC., Robert Hackman of Danville IL., Colten Hackman of Oakwood, Marcus Hackman of Catlin, and Nickolas Hackman of Danville; and 7 great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her son Douglas Hackman, her parents and step-mother Helen (Middlemas) Steele, and brother Ray G. Steele. A 1945 graduate of Danville High School Helen worked as a pre-school teacher and homemaker. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Danville and was active in the Christian Women's Association. Helen enjoyed interior decorating, looking after her flower garden and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen will be missed by her two dogs Lily and Lucy. Her family would like to extend a special thanks to Carle Hospice for the care they provided to Helen. A memorial service for Helen will be held at 10:00 am on Friday May 10, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Rev. Jimmy Hopper officiating and burial at Danville National Cemetery. A visitation will be held an hour prior from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Friday.
