Helen Grace Turner

Tolono - Helen Grace Turner, 78, of Tolono passed away at 12:48 AM on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born on October 17, 1936 in Celina, TN to Raymond and Mary Lucinda Cross. She married C. Harold Turner on January 1, 1954 in Glasgow, KY. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn (Tom) Whitcomb of York, PA and Betty (John) Sexton of Collinsville, IL; a brother, James Cross of Charleston, IL; two sisters, Ruth (Buddy) Bohall of Columbus, IN and Hazel (John) White of Kissimmee, FL; four grandchildren, Mistie Wiedle, Joshua Cooley, Dawn Whitcomb, and Jennifer (Kristafer) Becker; and six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Wiedle, Christian Wiedle, Gabriel Wiedle, Isabella Wiedle, Carter Cooley, and Aidyn Becker. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred Cross, Floyd Cross, Ted Cross, and Willie Edward Cross; and a sister, Mae Adkins. Helen had worked as the long-time manager in the Infant Department at Goldblatt's. She enjoyed making floral arrangements for her friends and family, music and singing, and especially liked finding deals at garage sales. Helen had a strong faith in the Bible. She was very involved in the women's ministry and was a true witness to her faith. Helen's family was important to her as well, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. A service to celebrate the life of Helen Turner will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Sunset's Champaign-Urbana Chapel, A Life Celebration Home at 710 N. Neil St. in Champaign. Pastor Oran Marshall will officiate. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Philo. Visitation will be held from 12-2 PM prior to the service on Wednesday.
