Danville - Helen E. Mingee, 102, passed away November 21, 2015 at Presence Medical Center in Danville, IL. She was born the daughter of Louis and Mabel (Bennett) Walter on January 18, 1913 in Danville. Helen married Russell J. Mingee on September 8, 1935 in Sullivan, IN. Helen is survived by her children Connie (Jerry) Armstrong of Danville, IL and Wayne W. Mingee (fianc Marsha Rambow) of Champaign, IL; grandchildren Cheryl Hayden of Tilton, IL, Debra (Tom) Millikan of Savoy, IL, Todd (Chris) Townsley of Parker, CO, and Kevin Townsley (Amy Smith) of Danville, IL; great-grandchildren Chasity (Shawn) Schmidt, Amy (Jim) Keller, Cory (Jenn) Allen, Ryan (Chelsie) Elmer, and Sydney & Samantha Townsley; great-great-grandchildren Chase, Baylee, & Hayden Schmidt, Michelle Grob, Brody Allen, Logan & Mason Keller, and Logan Elmer; sister Betty Smith of Danville, IL; nieces Sue (Don) Tate, Glenda (Frank) Gerulski, Kendra (Casey) McClure; nephew John Bouslog; step-grand-daughters Amy (Kent) Brown, Theresa (G.W.) Combs, and Christy Armstrong; 5 step great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-great-grandchild. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Mary Ellen Yarusinsky, Bernice Bouslog, & Willetta Mae Jones, daughter-in-law Marilyn Mingee, and niece Sharon Baker. Helen graduated from Danville High School. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Organization, Danville Women's Club, and Order of the Eastern Star - Iris Chapter. She served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Washington School PTA President, and was an active member of St. James Church. She played a prominent role in the lives of her family and friends. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Friday November 27, 2015 from 4-7pm. Funeral service will be held at St. James United Methodist Church on Saturday November 28 at 11am with a one hour visitation prior from 10-11am at the church. Burial will be private at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Helen's name to St. James United Methodist Church - Fan the Flame Building Renovation Project.
