Helen Louise Crawford, age 90, of Watseka, formerly of Danville, passed away at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Watseka Health Care in Watseka. She was born on April 30, 1917 in Danville the daughter of Lewis and Avis (Mockbee) Crawford. Helen is survived by a foster brother: Harry (Betty) Whimpey of Armond Beach, FL; one nephew: Terry Whimpey of Armond Beach, FL; one niece: Cindy (Jerry) Cummings of Jefferson City, MO; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two foster brothers: Wendell Mockbee and Robert Mockbee. Helen graduated from Potomac High School. She received her Bachelors Degree from Greenville College, a Masters Degree from the University of Illinois and also attended the University of Florida at Tampa and Illinois State University. She was a teacher that taught at Edison in Danville for seventeen years. Helen also taught at Henning for eight years and in Tampa, FL for ten years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, Vermilion County Retired Teachers, the Danville Garden Club, and Holiday Hills Free Methodist Church.
