Helen Binstock

Helen Kelley Binstock passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at The Abbey Senior Health Facility in O’Fallon, Missouri.

Helen was born on September2, 1923, in Byron, Wisconsin. She attended grade school and high school (graduating in 1940) in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin/Stout in Menominee, Wisconsin. Education was always at the top of her list of important items, encouraging her children to go to college.

She married Edwin J. Binstock on December 27, 1950 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son Joseph (Sherrie) Binstock of Chillicothe, Illinois and her daughter Mary (Mark) Martin of St. Peters, Missouri. Three granddaughters, Leah (Nick), Rebecca (Patrick) and Rachel. She has three great grandsons, Jack and Tucker Coleman and Larson Stone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nellie Kelley and two brothers, Edward (Marcella) and Roland (Eileen) Kelley.

Helen taught in schools in Wisconsin (initially in a 1 room schoolhouse) and was Home Agent for the University of Wisconsin Extension. After she and her husband moved to Illinois, in 1950, she taught at Chanute Air Force Base nursery school from 1957-1965. She taught Kindergarten at Thomasboro Grade School from 1965-1975. She was a member of St. Malachy Church in Rantoul and ICD and Assumption Catholic Churches in O’Fallon, Missouri.

Helen was a wonderful wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be missed by her family and all the staff at The Abbey where she spent the last 3 years of her life.

A funeral mass will be held at St Malachy Catholic Church 340 E. Belle Ave. Rantoul, IL. 61866 on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11am. A visitation will be held one hour prior at 10am. Helen will be interred at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
