Helen Acord

Helen Acord, 94, of Danville, passed away on February 20, 2016 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on June 14, 1921 in Rossville, IL, the daughter of Edward A. and Josephine (Brown) Tuggle. She married L. Doyne Acord on February 16, 1945 in Richmond, VA, he preceded her in death in 2006. Helen will be deeply missed by two sons, Ray Acord of Danville and Duane (Martha) Acord of Greenville, SC. One sister, Anna Sawyer of Memphis, TN, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Kay Macgirvin and fourteen siblings. Helen was a farm girl at heart and loved the farm lifestyle. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Danville. A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service. Helen will be laid to rest at Danville National Cemetery.
