Danville - Heidi Elizabeth Young, 44, of Danville passed away on June 14, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
If you were ever blessed enough to know Heidi, then you will understand that there are no words to sum her up in a traditional obituary, so through the many that loved her, we will attempt to describe a selfless woman through sharing stories, life lessons, and tributes, the best we canfor those of you who didnt know her, consider yourself short-changed.
Heidi was born on May 6, 1977, daughter to Bud and Janet (Hill) Burris of Sidell, IL. Also, surviving are her brother Tommy Burris (Hanna) and her sister Crystal Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, along with her father-in-law, Dennis W. Young Sr.
She graduated from Jamaica High School-Class of 1995.
You will read on to find out that she excelled at many things in her life, but nothing compared to her proudest accomplishments which were marrying the love of her life and best friend, Dennis Young on October 20, 2001, who survives, and being a loving mother to her handsome boys, Tyler (24) and Payton (16) also surviving and last but not least, her pets, Riggs, Boo-Boo, and Poo-Poo Head as well as many special aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She went on to study Radiologic Technology at Danville Area Community College and graduated in 2008. Shes not stopping there; she continued her education in radiology and earned her Bachelors of Radiology Science at University of Louisiana at Monroe, graduating May 2013 and used her degree working as a Radiology Tech for Christie Clinic, for 8 years. In her current position, she found her passion in teaching through working at DACC as the Radiology Program Clinical Coordinator and was tenured in October 2019. She was meticulously groomed by her esteemed colleague, Tammy Howard of Westville, whom she treasured as a mentor, respected as a boss, trusted as a confidant, and cherished and loved as a friend. Heidi was currently working on her Masters Degree in Education from American College of Education, with a straight A average and would have successfully completed this by Spring of 2022.
Heidi had an infectious smile and big heart. She viewed life differently than most and always reminded us to live in the moment, because once it passed, you could never get it back. She loved camping, shopping, being a baseball-mom, watching the CUBS and DA BEARS, reading, movies, music, and the beach. Although she knows a lot of people, she has some very close special friends that she loves as family and spending time with; her life-long best friend, April Hollingsworth who shared the ups and downs of childhood, teenage years, boy crushes, proms, and the big hair and bad styles of the 80s, whom she loved and supported unconditionally; her other "bestie" for 21 years, Dana Marble, whom she vacationed with, toted baseball boys around the world with, shared parenting with each others kids, along with the countless laughs and "girls days", and is the Ethel to Heidis Lucy like no other; and lastly, her "Tribe Sisters", with whom she shared the hormonal tears, love, laughter, and loss in the middle-aged woman and always told them she would take care of as they aged.
She taught her students to strive for excellence, to guide those she loved in the right direction, and she knew how to perfectly console us in our greatest times of need. She left us today sadly but in the "Heidi-way" leaving us speechless and with surprise. Just knowing her, made us better and she certainly left this world a better place than how she found it. She will be dearly missed by all of those whose lives she touched. Rest in peace beautiful soul and fly high, you will never be forgotten.
