Hedwig Symanski

URBANA - Hedwig Symanski, 96, of Urbana, IL, formerly of Catlin, IL, died at 11:00am, Monday, February 12, 2007, in Champaign, IL, following a short illness. She was born September 15, 1910 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Konstanty and Rozalia (Sokolowski) Roginski. She married Paul Louis Symanski on Feb. 8, 1947 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1978. She was an avid card player and had been a member of the Jolly Eight Euchre Club of Westville, IL, for more than 30 years. She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. She was a great cook, she had a wonderful sense of humor and she loved to entertain her family and friends at home. She enjoyed knitting and doing crossword puzzles. Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law: Paul J. and Barbara Symanski of Grand Rapids, MI; Henry and Susan Symanski of Champaign, IL; and Michael and Elaine Symanski of Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren: Paul M. of Scottsdale, AZ, Greg of Bloomington, IL, Beth of St. Paul, MN, Aaron of Chicago, Kyra of Savoy, IL, and Adam and Julia of Overland Park, KS. She had five great grandchildren, Alexandria, Jordan, John, Render, and Rowan. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Roginski and Mitchell Roginski, and a sister, Irene Roginski. The family plans a visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S State Street, Westville, IL, followed by a Mass at 11:00am at St. Marys Church in Westville. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association
