Heather M. Kurth

Heather Marie Kurth, a passionate wife and mother, passed away peacefully after a battle with an auto-immune disease at 48 years of age. She died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, in Urbana, Illinois at Carle Foundation Hospital. She was born as Heather Swim in 1974 to Sheila Williams, and former spouse Wayne Swim in Charleston, Illinois. Heather resided in Greenup in her youth, attended schools in the area, and graduated from Cumberland High School in 1992. While pursuing her passion, Heather attended Mr. Johns School of Cosmetology in Champaign, Illinois. She graduated with a degree in Cosmetology in 1993.

She married Mitchell "Blaine" Kurth October 2, 1999, in Monticello, Illinois.

Heather spent 29 years working as a hair stylist, usually with her signature purple hair. She loved getting to help people through her work and was passionate about making people as happy as possible with their hair and self-expression. In her free time, she loved going to concerts, collecting Def Leppard (along with other rock) memorabilia and listening to albums, watching movies, and playing with her puppy. She valued spending quality time with her friends and family and never failed to offer a meal, a tv-show recommendation, and a hug to anyone in our home.

Mrs. Kurth is survived by her children, Rylee Kurth and Maya Kurth, Monticello, Illinois; her parents Sheila (Ken) Williams, Monticello, Illinois and Wayne Swim, Greenup, Illinois; her brother Brad (Kristie) Swim, Tolono, Illinois; along with two nieces and three nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Blaine (d. 2022).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL. A tribute will be given at 3:00 p.m. by the family. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations contributing to her childrens college funds.

The family asks that those who attend the service wear a concert or band t-shirt.
