Heather K. (Haley) Roberts was born in Lafayette, IN on August 28, 1964 to Donald O. Haley and Judith K. Haley. She left this world on October 20, 2017 to be with the Lord Jesus Christ forever in Heaven. Heather attended school in Danville, IN through grade 1, school in Danville, IL from 2nd through 7th grade, and school from grades 8-11 in Peoria, IL. She graduated from high school at Tiskilwa (Illinois) High School in 1982. She worked at two nursing homes in the Princeton, IL area. Heather took training for rehab at the last one and did that until she moved back to Danville, IL in the early 1990s. She also worked at Hobby Lobby, during the time the business was located in Danville. At the time of her death she was volunteering at the Community Thrift Store on Bowman Avenue in Danville. Heather was able to apply much of what she learned at Hobby Lobby to this volunteer work. She was a hard worker there and loved the people she worked with. She had a "helps" ministry, especially among the elderly, reaching out to assist elderly neighbors and others however they needed her. She truly loved to do this. And she loved to encourage and to teach others to do whatever she was currently involved in. Heather was married to Danny R. Roberts on May 4, 1996 by her father, Reverend Donald Haley at the Rock Church in Danville. She was a loyal friend and devoted daughter. She donated one of her kidneys to her father in 1999, freeing him from dialysis and helping to extend his life for another 13 years. Heather and her husband were blessed to share the gift of photography with him. They loved taking nature pictures. Heather joined her husband in his teaching a senior citizens' Bible Study for the past 12 years and loved the ladies that attended. She was mindful to give gifts to each one at Christmas and birthdays. After her father's death she immediately began to assist her mother, helping in any way needed. Heather loved family and her little dog, Finley (Buddy Fin). She never had children of her own, but was blessed with a step-family: Kendra Thompson of Whitestown, IN and Nicholas Roberts of Danville, IL; plus 5 grandchildren, Sidney Thompson, Annabelle Thompson, Kiera Thompson of Whitestown, IN, Isabelle Roberts and Lincoln Roberts of Avon, IN. Also surviving is her brother; Donald Christopher Haley of Little Rock, AK; 2 nieces, Katelyn (Haley) Moore of Ft. Benning, GA, Kelsie Haley of Peoria, IL; great niece, Avery Moore; great nephew, Rex Moore, both of Ft. Benning, GA. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, Merle A. Kiser and E. Lucille Kiser, and Donald E. Haley and Dorothy Owens. Heather loved Jesus and she was a member of the Rock Church in Danville. No words can express our love to all who loved her, thank you. She touched so many lives and invested in lives just to encourage. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday at The Rock Church at 20 Poland Rd in Danville, IL. Officiating will be Pastor Randy Downing. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-10 AM at the church. Memorial donations may be made to The Rock Church, PO Box 570 Danville, IL 61832 or the Lupus Foundation of America.
