Hazel Smith

Hazel Marie (Greene) Smith, age 98, of Danville, passed away at 4:08 am on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Provena USMC in Danville. She was born November 12, 1910 in Danville the daughter of Mable and Earl Greene. She married Lester L. Smith on June 10, 1928 in Lafayette, IN. He preceded her in death on March 10, 1997. Hazel is survived by three sons: Jack L. Smith of Lake In The Hills, IL, James A. (Myrna) Smith of Addison, IL, Robert J. (Riza) Smith of Danville; one brother: Ben (Wanda) Dunbar of Jupiter, FL; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son, four brothers, two sisters, and one daughter-in-law: Evelyn Smith. Hazel was employed at Sears Roebuck in Chicago and Oakbrook as a credit supervisor for twenty-five years. She taught Sunday school for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. A celebration of life service for Hazel Smith will be held at 2 pm on Monday, April 6, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Burial will follow at Gordon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Hazels name to the First Nazarene Church of Danville Sunday School Fund.
