Hazel Mildred McCalip, 92, of Danville, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2005 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Hazel was born on June 7, 1913 in Batestown, Illinois. Hazel was raised by her grandfather Olive Stine and her mother Elizabeth (Stine) Roberts. Hazel married John Estock on November 29, 1929 in Danville. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1954. She later married Louis McCalip on September 2, 1955 in Danville. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1968. She is survived by two sons- Jack Eugene Estock of Bloomington and Jerry Lee (Geneva) Estock of Bullard, Texas; three daughters- Marilyn Johnson of Danville, Nancy Pollock of Danville, and Darlene (Wayne) Pankow of Danville; 13 grandchildren- Jackie Jr., Peggy, Ella Mae, Jerri Lynn, John Allen, Merv Jr., Ronald, Rhonda, John Wayne, Tonyia, Frankie Lynn, Sheryl Lynn, Lori Lynn; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and one very special friend for several years Helen Boyer of Danville. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one daughter- Betty Lou Estock, one granddaughter- Paula Ann, one grandson- Clifford John, and one great-granddaughter- Cassandra Brown. Hazel graduated from Diamond Grade School. She worked at Paulines Restaurant and Jacobs Caf(c) for several years. She was a member of the Batestown Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing word search books. She loved watching television especially Wheel of Fortune. She enjoyed spending time and playing cards with her grandchildren. Hazels was always a very happy and friendly person all of the time. And will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A celebration of the life of Hazel Mildred McCalip will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Rev. Dr. Don Vanzant and Charlie Strange officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Hazels name to the Alzheimers Association.
