DANVILLE - Hazel Katherine Maskel, 89, of Danville, formerly of Georgetown, passed away at 9:23pm on Monday, November 21st, 2005 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. She was born on May 7th, 1916, in Georgetown, IL, to Fredric and Mary Ruth (Miller) Morrison. On February 11th, 1937, she married Boyd Norman Maskel in Marshall, IL. He preceded her in death on December 29th, 1984. Survivors include: her sons, Art (Jeannie) Maskel of Gessie, IN, Daryl (LaDonna) Maskel of Sidell, IL, Jim (Alverta) Maskel of Georgetown, IL, and George (Pamela) Maskel of Covington, IN; a daughter-in-law, Linda Maskel of Westville, IL; her brothers, Charles Morrison, George (Colleen) Morrison, & Ronald (Maxine) Morrison, all of Georgetown; her nine grandchildren; her thirteen great grandchildren; her eleven step grandchildren; her seventeen step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one sister, two brothers, & one grandchild. Hazel was a homemaker and worked for the Georgetown School District part-time as a playground supervisor. She was a member, as well as, past chairman of the Georgetown Homemakers Extension. She was also a member at the Georgetown United Methodist Church where she served as public relations and choir member. Hazel had served as president and vice president in the Methodist Womens Society. She enjoyed crafting and gardening. Writing poems was important to Hazel and she had been listed in the Whos Who of Poetry in 1990 in 1994 was in Outstanding Poets. A celebration of Hazels life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2005, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2005 at the funeral home. Pastor James Blue will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in her name to the Georgetown Untied Methodist Church.
