Hazel J. Barr

St. Petersburg, FL. - Hazel J. Barr, 73, of St. Petersburg and formerly of this area, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 in St. Petersburg.

Hazel was born July 25, 1947 in Danville, Illinois the daughter of the late Russell and Mabel (Staggs) Fortner.

She married Jay Barr. He survives. Other survivors include her children: John, David, Theresa and Bryan; six grandchildren; three sisters: Melody Ann Fortner of Salem, Missouri; Meda (Dennis) Winslow of Mahomet, Illinois and Mona (Matt) Beckelhymer of Model, Colorado; brother: Paul R. Fortner of Live Oak, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Hazel is preceded in death by Myra Fortner, Claire Bernardi, Carl Fortner and Orville Fortner.

Hazel worked for many years as a CNA in various nursing homes throughout Springfield and Champaign, Illinois.

Funeral service: 3 p.m. EST Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Anderson McQueen Funeral Homes, 2201 Doctor Martin Luther King Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida 33704. Visitation: 2 p.m. EST Saturday, December 5, 2020 until time of services at the funeral home. Mrs. Barr will be laid to rest at Lower Mound Cemetery north of Perrysville, Indiana. There will be no services locally. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting with arrangements.
