Hazel Gooch, 92, of Danville passed away on July 13, 2016 at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL Hazel was born on September 17, 1924 in Blount Township, Oakwood, IL. She is the daughter of Lester Hilleary and Elizabeth Richardson Hilleary. She was a graduate of Oakwood High School and Lewis Hotel Training School in Washington D.C. On September 24, 1942 she married Walter James Gooch and they had one child, Charles James Gooch. Hazel was a member of the Bowman Avenue Methodist Church, a member of Dangis, served on the board of General Electric retirees, where she worked for 37 years, honorary member of the Vermilion County Fair Board, served on the board of The General Electric Credit Union for 20 years, was a primary Sunday School teacher for 15 years and was also the treasurer for the Middlefork Reservoir Board. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, as well as family members Sarah (John) Chandler, Lois (Durward) Wise, Doris (Byron) Wise, Floyd (June) Hilleary and Lloyd (Pat) Hilleary. She is the loving aunt of many nieces and nephews and will be missed dearly. A celebration of Hazel's life will be held 11 AM, Monday, July 18, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61834. Visitation prior from 10-11 AM.
