Harvey W Miller, 87, of Danville passed away at 8:05 AM at Accolade Healthcare of Danville on December 5, 2020.

Harvey was born January 3, 1933 in La Moille, IL to Rev. William Goebel and Alice (Purvis) Miller. He married Shirley Rohrer on August 17, 1952 in Covington Ind and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Miller of Danville, IL three sons, Tuck (Evelyn), Greg (Billie), and Robin Miller, all of Danville, IL, one daughter, Channa Cales of Georgetown, IL, one sister, Pearl Davis of Lafeyette, IN, ten Grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Vivian, Joshua, Beckie, Jan, Johnathan, Tabitha, Cameran, Evanna as well as 24 Great Grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Brenda (Kenneth) Maring, a foster son, Loyal Foote, one brother, Frederick Miller and one sister, Eva Harper, as well as one grandson, Bobby Joe Miller and two infant grandchildren.

Harvey grew up the son of a Country Preacher and gave his heart to the Lord at an early age. He is a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church. Harvey graduated from Covington High in 1950 and retired as Captain after serving 22 years on the Danville Fire Department. He his wife formerly owned and the Oak Grove Motel and Harvey also worked at Danville Moving & Storage, Triangle Distributing, the True Value Hardware store, and was a Transport Aid at United Samaritans Hospital.

Harvey and his wife, Shirley, were Foster Parents to many children over the years with three of them etched into their hearts including Mark (Chris) Foote. Harvey was always a hard worker and good provider for his family, always very generous throughout his lifetime and led by example.

In his free time, Harvey enjoyed traveling by car or Amtrak with his wife, Shirley and bowling. He continued cheering his sons on after he hung up his bowling shoes. Harvey was an avid Chicago Cub and Illini fan and enjoyed attending Danville Dan's games. He enjoyed playing Euchre and ping pong and was considered unbeatable. In his younger years, Harvey coached Little League Baseball at the American Legion. After retirement he joined TOPS and volunteered his time to help many 5th grade students with mathematics at Judith Giacoma in Westville, IL.

Harvey never met a stranger.

A Private Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Ridgeview Baptist Church 3838 North Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61832. Pastor Mark Keyser will officiate. A Public Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 5:00 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Entombment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation or service wear a mask and practice social distancing.
