Harvey B. Mauck Harvey Burton Mauck, 92, of Danville, passed away at 4:00 A.M., Monday, August 20, 2007, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. Mr. Mauck was born June 4, 1915, in Danville, Illinois, to Albert B. and Mabel Burcham Mauck. He married Ethel Dalbey on June 20, 1941, at Morganfield, KY. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2006. They lived in Danville all of their 64 years of marriage. Harvey is survived by one daughter, Mary Louise (Jim) Pate of Danville, one grandson, Brian Pate of Peoria, two sisters-in-law, Lenore Mauck of Florida and Dorothy Dalbey of Oakwood, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, H. Eugene Mauck. Harvey attended Danville schools and at an early age started working with his father in the coal mining business. He owned and operated Deep Valley Coal Company in Catlin, IL until 1971 when he closed the mine and retired. He and his son-in-law bought Catlin Feed and Farm Supply in 1973 and operated it until 1979. Harvey was a 60-year member of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge 38 and Danville Scottish Rite. He belonged to the Ansar Shrine Temple, Eastern Illinois Shrine Club, and the Eastern Illinois Shrine Supercycle Club. He played a very active part in the building of the 25-man Shrine Bicycle and maintained it for many years. He was a 50-year member of the Noon Kiwanis Club and was Bowler-of-the-Year of the Service Club League in 1988-1989. Harvey was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and a past member of the Danville Elks Lodge 332. One of his many hobbies was flying. As a pilot since 1937, he had his own plane and was a member of AOPA and Silver Wings Fraternity. His other interests included golf, photography, videotaping, mechanics, and repairing electronics. He loved his family, many friends, and his bountiful life. A Celebration of Life for Harvey Burton Mauck will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2007, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Tiffany Black officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, from 4-7 P.M. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children or to Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL.
