Harry Martinek

Harry Martinek completed his lifes journey on September 2, 2010 and is now in the company of his God. He will be remembered most for his strong faith in God, his deep love for his family and his sense of humor. He was more than ready to receive his God even though he was leaving his beloved wife and children. Prior to his lengthy illness he attended Mass and Holy Communion on a daily basis. He touched the lives of everyone he came into contact with from the various health care workers to his co-workers and neighbors. He retired in 1994 after 27 years of employment with Tee-Pak. During his employment he was responsible for creating numerous mechanical innovations to improve the efficiency of the shirring machines, for which he holds many patents and trade secrets. He was the 8th child of 11 children of Sam and Gertrude Martinek, who preceded him in death. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 2 brothers. He leaves his beloved wife of 51 years, Betsy, Seven daughters and two sons: Dawn (Doug) Nicoson, Maureen Regan, Sheryl Martinek, Renee Saults, Harry (Karin) Martinek, Brenda (Rick) Ellis, Richard, Rhonda and Amanda Martinek. Other survivors include his brothers Samuel & Stanley and sisters Ida Hendle, Eleanor Carlson, Helen Lazzarotto, and sister-in-law Debbie Siddens; as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Erin, Andy, Lindsay & Matt Nicoson; Patrick, Samantha & Jacob Regan; Derek Saults; David & Cassandra Tuggle; Payton, Logan & Colton Martinek; and Aubrianna Martinek-Chapleau. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Harry will be held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at St. Pauls Catholic Church with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 3-7 Monday afternoon at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum in Danville.
