Harry L. Todd

Harry L. "John" Todd, formerly of Veedersburg, IN, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Hawthorne Inn, Danville, IL. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday. He was born on April 14, 1927 in Danville, IL to Harry E. and Elma (Winn) Todd. Harry attended Covington High School. On September 3, 1949 he married the love of his life, Darlene I. Schnulle and they have one son, Steve (Debbie) Todd. Harry has two grandchildren, Aaron (Ambre) Todd and Jamie (Sean) Cowie; three great grandchildren, Austin Todd, Alexander Todd, and Jenna (Devin)Pratt; one great grandchild, Aspen Pratt. Harry owned Todd Construction from 1959 to 1984 as a General Contractor specializing in home remodeling. He served in the United States Army during WWII as a courier and was a member of the American Legion in Covington, IN as well as a Mason in the Olive Branch for 50 years. He was an avid inventor, enjoyed wood working, and had his pilot's license. Harry and Darlene loved traveling, including several cruises. They lived in San Diego, CA for thirteen years. They built several houses in the 67 years of marriage. He will be greatly missed. Harry is survived by his wife, son, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles Edgar and Perry Todd, as well as a sister; Lois West. A celebration of Harry's life will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N Vermillion in Danville. A visitation will be held prior, starting at 1pm. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, off Batestown Road. The Todd Family would like to thank all of Harry's caregivers at Hawthorne Inn for their loving, caring, and compassionate care during his stay in the Alzheimer's Unit. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Harry's name to the Alzheimer's Association for Research.
