Harry King Jr.

Harry King Jr., 73, of Penfield went to be with Jesus from his home on March 2, 2024.

He was born Dec. 12, 1950, in Champaign, to Harry and Olive King. He married Ruth (Hood) Basham on March 14, 1998, in Champaign. She survives.

He is survived by their children, Beth (Dale) Walker, Justin (Becky) King, Monica (Bryce) Seamons, Paula (Paul) Bishop and Darren (Cindy) Basham. He is also survived by brothers, Cecil (Susan) King, James (Robin) King and Fred (Gaye) King; a sister, Becky (Edgar) Norton; six granddaughters, Adrianne, Arin, Jordan, Lauralynn, Shelby and Kate; a grandson, Jonathan; and a great-granddaughter, Natalie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Olive; and his father and mother-in-law, William and Anna Hood.

He was a Maintenance of Way mechanic for Illinois Central – Canadian National Railroad for 40 years retiring in 2010. He enjoyed working on old cars and mission trips to El Salvador with his wife.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Meadowbrook Community Church, 1902 S. Duncan, Champaign. Pastor Ron Strack will officiate. Burial will follow in Welles Cemetery, Penfield. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, also at the church.
