Harry I. Ryan 86 of Danville passed away at 5:40 pm Thursday November 1, 2007 at Provena USMC. He was born January 27, 1921 in Chicago the son of Harry and Alice Ryan. Harry married Dorothy I. OBrien on October 16, 1948 in Chicago; she preceded him on November 25, 1985. Those who will miss him is a daughter: Mary Ann Ryan of Woodbury, MN, four sons: David (Dee Ann) Ryan of Danville, Stephen (Cynthia) Ryan of Woodridge, Il, Richard (Jacqueline) Ryan of Grayslake, IL, Donald Ryan of Peoria, eight grandchildren: Maggie, Patrick, Sarah, Katie and her husband Colin, Becky, Elizabeth, Mary Beth and Christopher, also one great-granddaughter Emma, and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two bothers: Father Stephen Ryan and his favorite brother John (Bernice) Ryan, two sisters: Fran and his favorite sister Peg (Frank) Butler. Before retiring Harry was employed as a manager with AT&T in Chicago for 34 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII in the European Theater. Harry was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister, also a member of H.O.G. Middle Fork Valley Chapter, 4th degree member of the K of C. He also was a red vest volunteer at Provena USMC Hospital. Harry was very gifted in drawings, poetry, woodworking and making people laugh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Monday November 5. 2007 at St. Pauls Catholic Church with Father Greg Nelson Officiating. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven cemetery in Westchester, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be 3-6 pm Sunday November 4, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
