Harry C Summerlot

Harry C. Summerlot, 79, of Danville, passed away at 9:44pm, Friday, May 18, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born June 4, 1938 in Hume, IL, the son of Wayne and Elva (Strawn) Summerlot. He was united in marriage Patricia Ann Oakes Cash in 1958 for 22 years. He married Unita B. Nixon on August 14, 1982 in Tilton, IL. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his daughter, Deborah Lynn (Louis) Manzella of Melbourne Beach, FL; his step-daughter, June (Harry) Hatch of Perry, FL; his step-son, G.W. (Theresa) Combs of Danville; his grandchildren, Sunny (Matt) Sutton, Blake Mascari, Brad Bland, Anthony Bland, Courtney Hatch, Tyler Combs, & Mason Combs; and his seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his two brothers, Joe Summerlot & Doyle Summerlot; his sister, Bertha Summerlot; his daughter, Sandra Kay Summerlot; his step-daughter, Joyce Ann Combs; and his grandson, Blaine Mascari. Harry was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed his retirement from Hyster after working there for 29 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight. He loved golfing & fishing. He was known as the "King of Mowing Grass" and kept an immaculate yard. Harry & Unita enjoyed spending their winters in Texas. Harry loved his family and enjoyed spending his time with them. A celebration of Harry's life will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville with Father Timothy Saupp officiating. Visitation will be 12:00pm to 2:00pm prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Westville American Legion Post #51. Memorial donations may be given in his name to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
