Harris Christie, 63, of Tilton passed away on March 27, 2009 at Provena Covenant in Urbana. Harris was born May 5, 1945 in Covington, IN son of Glenn and Pauline Thompson Christie. He married Stella Ray on December 18, 1971 in Danville, IL. She survives along with daughter: Beth (Greg) Reynolds of Tilton, son: Brandon Christie of Tilton, brother: Jack Christie of Cayuga, IN sisters: Delores (Ronald) Roberts of Danville and Darlene (Kenneth) Miller of Cayuga, IN, brother-in-law: Bill Ray of Brownsburg, IN; and several nieces and nephews, but, Christie Roth was special. She sent many cards and visited when she was in town. He was reunited with his birth family in 1993. He has the following survivors: sisters: Judy (Bill) Pruner of Carbon, IN and Marsha (Bob) Kelley of Orlando, FL; brother: George Lindquist of Covington, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents. Harris attended Tangier and Cayuga Grade schools and was a 63 graduate of Cayuga High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1968 and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran. Harris graduated from DACC in 1984 and worked for the Danville VA Hospital as a LPN until retiring in 1996. He attended church faithfully and was a member of Danville Evangelical Church. He enjoyed Euchre parties held 3-4 times a year with family: Dave & Wanda Vecellio, Janet & Norm Dowers, Bob & Carol Barr, Don & Sue Barr, and Jay & Mona Mitchell and traveling to Florida to visit relatives. A Celebration of Harriss Life will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastors J.T. Riggs and Kenneth Young officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Danville National Cemetery.
