Harold F. Techtow of Danville, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at 10:40 a.m. at Manor Care in Champaign, IL. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 14, 1917, the son of William and Nellie (High) Techtow. He married Violet M. Wallace on October 11, 1941, in Danville. She survives. Other survivors include his two daughters; Judy Techtow-Henk and Cindy (Scott) Ferber-Ratcliff, both of Danville, IL and one son, Thomas H. (Cheryl) Techtow of Locust, NC.; eight grandchildren, Michael Tony Henk of Danville, Troy (Joyee) Henk of Danville, Tricia Henk-Taylor of Danville, Kelly McCoy and Bryce Gaddy of Charlotte, NC, Jesse Techtow of Danville, Cody Ferber of Danville, and Jeremy Ferber of Colorado; several great-grandchildren, one special niece, Sharon (Jim) Goodwin of Anheim, CA, who Harold dearly loved and enjoyed traveling with. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Todd Potter, and one sister, Margaret Hoyt. Harold was a Book Binder at R&S Printing. He retired in 1977 after 35 years of service. Harold was an avid Cubs fan. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, taking bus trips and cruises. He loved his family and was fortunate to have spent 67 years of marriage with the love of his life, Violet. Harold loved to travel and made it a point to always make time for family vacations. A celebration of life for Harold F. Techtow will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion, Danville with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in memory of Harold to Trinity Lutheran Church.
