Harold "Jim" L. Warbritton, 93 of Danville passed away on January 9, 2022 at Accolade Healthcare of Danville. He was born on August 22, 1928 in Danville, Illinois, where he would spend the majority of his life. He married the love of his life, Roxie Eileen French on June 5, 1954 and together they raised 3 children. Their children Brock (Michelle) Warbritton, Tracy Warbritton, and James (Annette) Warbritton survive.
Roxie preceded him in death on November 3, 2014. He was also reunited in death with his mother Leona Stephens and his brother Robert Warbritton.
Jim leaves behind his children, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way, and his siblings Pat Ramsey, Michael (Judy) Stephens, Fred (Donna) Stephens, Ray (Beverly) Stephens, and Jack Stephens.
Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a Sergeant First Class serving overseas in the Korean War. He received the Army Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and a Bronze Star. He served with honor and in later years he joined the American Legion Post 210.
Jim was VP of the Danville Warriors and although he was also a Major League Baseball scout for the California Angels, Milwaukee Brewers, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago White Sox, he always rooted for the St. Louis Cardinals at home. He was a huge University of Illinois Illini Basketball and Football fan along with being a Chicago Bears fan. His favorite teams were the ones his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids played on and always looked forward to attending their sporting events throughout the years.
Jim was a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge and the Pipe and Steamfitters Union Local 157, where he was employed for many years. He loved spending the summers in Florida.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center at 3940 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:30 am on Thursday. He will be laid to rest with military honors at the Danville National Cemetery with Roxie. Memorial Contributions may be made in his honor to the American Legion Post 210, 201 Prospect Pl., Danville, IL 61834.
