HAROLD JAMES McDONALD Harold James McDonald, 95, of Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of Danville, passed away at 9:00 a.m. e.s.t. Friday, April 8th, 2011. Harold was born on June 23rd, 1915 in Alvin, Illinois, the son of Harry R. and Emma (Smith) McDonald. He married Inez Fuqua on June 14th, 2002 in Danville. She survives. He is also survived by his three sons- Jim (Delcina) McDonald of West Point, Indiana, John (Becky) McDonald of West Lafayette, Indiana and Butch (Donna Wall ) McDonald of Monticello, Indiana; three sisters- Elsie Allen of Linden, Indiana, Nellie Woodard of Hoopeston and Betty Meeker of Tampa, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister- Minnie Russell, two brothers- Roy McDonald and Lawrence Dale McDonald, and a great-grandson- Kenny McDonald. Harold graduated from Alvin High School in 1933. He worked for 17 years as a rural mail carrier in the Alvin and Bismarck area. He also operated McDonald Farms from 1954 to 1975. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #724 in West Lafayette and was previously a 50 year member of Hoopeston Masonic Lodge #709. He was also a member of Second Church of Christ and the Illiana Antique Tractor club. Harold enjoyed woodworking, playing euchre and traveling. A Celebration of the life of Harold James McDonald will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Dale Deneal officiating. Burial will follow the service in Walnut Corner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Thursday before the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Second Church of Christ.
