Harold Dean Hatch, 76, passed away on November 26, 2024, at his home in Veedersburg surrounded by his family. He was born on July 24, 1948, in Danville, Illinois to the late Freeman and Eleanor Hatch. He attended Southeast Fountain High School and joined the United States Army in May of 1968. He married Carla Baird Hatch on February 18, 1989, in Veedersburg, Indiana and together they shared a wonderful 35 years before his passing. She survives.
Also surviving Harold are his children Michael (Leslie) Hatch, James Hatch, Sara Hatch, Rhonda Cox, and Melissa (Mike) Brown; his grandchildren Tyler Beavers, Leslie Hatch, Kalonie Brown, Connor Brown, Kelly Ritter, Alice Hatch, Dallas Burke, Timothy Clark, Benjamin Clark, Anatasia Hatch, and Christian Clark; as well as 8 great grandchildren and 2 nieces.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son David Hatch and his brother Robert Hatch.
Harold retired after 43 years of tool and dye work at Alcoa. He was a gun enthusiast and was affectionately known as the “Master of Reloading” at the Old 41 in Veedersburg. Harold enjoyed working out in the garden and looked forward to every opportunity to ride his motorcycle. He enjoyed the open road and traveling.
A visitation will be held from 4- 7 pm EST on Friday, November 29, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home’s Covington Chapel, located at 420 3rd Street, in Covington. A service will be held the following day on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 2 pm EST, also at the funeral home. Pastor Greg McDonald will officiate. A graveside service with military rites will be held at a later date at the Masonic Cemetery in Kingman.
