Harold Glen Marrow

Harold Glen Marrow, 85, of Danville, went to be with his Lord at 5:30 p.m. Friday, October 21st, 2011 at VA Illiana Health Care Systems in Danville. Harold was born on June 1st, 1926, in Blount Township, the son of Jacob Francis and Minnie Viola (Bloomfield) Marrow. He married Patricia Ann Rusk Marrow on October 16th, 1949, in Veedersburg, Indiana. She preceded him in death on November 3rd, 1995. He is survived by one son- Michael (Barbara) Marrow of Danville; two daughters- Debra (Dick) Bays of Tilton and Susan (David) Dukes of Alvin; seven grandchildren- Kim (B.J.) Philpott, Angie Dukes, John (Barbie Corbin) Bays, Troy (Heather) Dukes, Brian (Carrie Cunningham) Bays, Cassie (Todd Flessner) Marrow and Matthew Marrow; 15 great-grandchildren; best mushroom hunting buddies- Don Claywell and Doug Heidrick; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson- Kyle Jacob Bays, four brothers- Ray Makemson, Jim Makemson, Roy Marrow and Jake Marrow, and five sisters- Viola West, Leone Lovett, Ruby Jinkins, Helen Nabors and Mary Freed. Harold attended Bunker Hill School and later Henning High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. After the service, Harold worked at General Electric for 42 years, until he retired in 1986. Harold enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, song writing, reading his bible, walking, riding his bike, going to Kennekuk and attending family gatherings. The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to all of the staff at the VA that has taken care of Harold. A Celebration of the life of Harold Glen Marrow will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Charlie Strange and Rick Lomax officiating. Burial will follow the service in Bethel Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the American Legion Post #210. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
