Harold Garwood

Harold Garwood, 92, of Ridge Farm, IL, passed away at 6:00pm, Friday, July 20, 2018, at his home. He was born on March 28, 1926, in Paris, IL, the son of Paul and Grace {Phillips} Garwood. He was united in marriage to Donna Spesard on August 31, 1952, in Ridge Farm. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his sons, Tracy (Barbara) Garwood of Eldorado Hills, CA, and Michael (Jeana) Garwood of Catlin; his daughters, Debra (Ken) Belleau of Charleston and Diane (Roger) Corsaro of Champaign; his grandchildren, Amy, Jenny, John, Erika, Stuart, Patrick, Paige, & Taylor Grace; and his great grandchildren, Peighton, Tyler, Adalyn, Austin, Aliyah, & Nolan. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his infant brother, Robert; his sister, Carolyn; and his brother-in-law, T.R. McDowell. Harold was a proud Veteran of the US Army and served during WWII and the Korean War in the 101st Airborne Division. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Georgetown. Harold was a life-long farmer and was known to love to mow his yard and go mushroom hunting. He really enjoyed cars and watching races. Above all else, Harold loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren. A celebration of Harold's life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, with Phil Miller officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm-7:00pm, Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ridge Farm with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Memorial donations may be given in Harold's name to Carle Hospice or Alzheimer's Association.
