Harold Eugene Holycross, 90, of Westville, went to be with the Lord at 1:15pm, Saturday, December 1, 2018, surrounded by his family at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville. He was born on June 13, 1928, in Danville, IL, the son of Ernest and Maude {Harris} Holycross. He was united in marriage to Anna Price on September 13, 1947, in Danville, IL. She will miss him dearly.
He will also be missed by: his daughters, Tarri (Jack) Walsh of Danville and Joyce (Darold) Marrow of Westville; his grandchildren, Mandy Holycross (Jason Finley), Donald (Heather) Marrow, Brad (Trish) Walsh, Greg Walsh, Heather (Louis) Vargas, & Madison Walsh; his great grandchildren, Ava Marrow, Aleah Marrow, Kailie Holycross, River Finley, Brandon (Sarah) Walsh, Lance (Jennifer) Walsh, Caleb Lahey, Haylee Walsh-Starr, Logan Vargas, & Mattie Vargas; his several nieces & nephews; and his good companion, Duke. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers & five sisters.
Harold was a proud a Veteran of the US Air Force. He worked on for the railroad and was a man of many talents and interests. He also owned the Brunswick Bar in Westville, had worked as a window washer in Indianapolis, had worked at Blax Printing and Webster Grocery. He was a member of the Masonic Order for over 50 years, member of the Scottish Rite, Elks and past member of the American Legion. He volunteered with Big Brothers & Big Sisters and was a member of the Muncie Baptist Church.
Harold loved traveling and listening to Country & Christian music. He also loved to play golf when he could. He was a man who never knew a stranger and loved his family with his whole heart. Harold loved family get-togethers and will be remembered dearly by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Harolds life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State St., Westville, with Pastor Dave Garver officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service on Thursday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
