Harold Doyne Ellis

Cayuga, Ind. - Harold Doyne Ellis, 79, of Cayuga passed away at 2:57 a.m. EST Thursday, January 7, 2021 at I.U. Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Harold was born July 11, 1941 in Clinton, Indiana the son of the late Clarence Ward and Ellen Jane (Henderson) Ellis.

He married Velsa Mae Tuel on August 14, 1965 in Cayuga, Indiana. She survives.

Other survivors include his children: Harold (Tracy) Ellis, Jr. of Newport, Indiana; Amy (Robert) Onley of Covington, Indiana; Jonathon (Marla) Ellis of Cayuga, Indiana and Crystal (Troy) Wadhams of Newtown, Indiana; eleven grandchildren: Steven Clouse; Elizabeth (Andy) Davidson; Harold Daniel (Melissa) Ellis; Robert Onley; Paige McConchie; Kirstin Ellis; Brennan Ellis; Matthew Ellis; Katielynn, Emma and Faith Wadhams; two great-grandchildren: Ava and Harper Ellis; six sisters: Margaret Freeman of Champaign, Illinois; Juletta Stonebraker of Cayuga, Indiana; Iva (Bob) Stevens and Vera Norman both of Tangier, Indiana; Carolyn (Ron) DeMoss of Attica, Indiana and Mary Holycross of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers: Fred 'Chub' (Joy) Ellis of West Lebanon, Indiana and John 'Bub' (Karen) Ellis of Newport, Indiana; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Ellis and nine brothers and sisters.

Harold retired in 1992 from General Motors in Tilton, Illinois. He later worked for Jeff Moreland and Thompson Grain Elevator in Cayuga, Indiana. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Harold was a member of the Cayuga Church of the Nazarene and Cayuga American Legion Post 263 serving as the current Chaplain. He enjoyed playing music, watching I.U. Basketball and spending time with his grandchildren, especially his great-grandchildren.

Funeral services: Noon EST Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Cayuga Church of the Nararene; Officiating: Pastor David Garver; Burial with Honors: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EST Monday, January 11, 2021 until time of services at the church. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is in charge of arrangements.
