Harold David Summers

Veedersburg, Ind. - Harold David Summers, 71, of Veedersburg, Ind passed away Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 1:06 PM EDT at St. Clare Medical Center Emergency Room, Crawfordsville, Ind. He was born December 31, 1934 in Fountain County, Ind, the son of the late Cyril and Hazel Bean Summers. Also preceding him in death a son Doug in 1977, a brother, Earl and an infant sister Lucille. Harold married Paula Y. Butcher on October 8, 1954 in Ridgefarm, Ill and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Cathy (Michael) Bachelor of Robinson, ILL; two grandsons, Ben (Rachel) Bachelor of Robinson, ILL and Justin Bachelor of Centerville, Ill; a great grandson, Jonas Bachelor of Robinson, Ill; a brother, Orvall (Loretta) Summers of Hillsboro, Ind; a sister-in-law, Margaret Summers of Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Harold was a 1954 graduate of Kingman High School. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked 45 years for Farm Bureau Co-Op of Veedersburg where he drove a petroleum truck, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Veedersburg United Methodist Church and a member of the Veedersburg American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and taking care of his lawn. Services: 11 AM EDT, Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at DeVerter Brothers Funeral, Cayuga, Ind. Officiating: Rev. William Nickle Burial: Wolfe Creek Cemetery, near Wallace, Ind Visitation: Tuesday (August 22) from 5 to 8 PM EDT at the funeral home.
