PARIS- Harold Baldwin Smith, 89, of Paris, formerly of Ridge Farm, passed away at 9:07pm on Monday, July 25th, 2005, at the Paris Community Hospital in Paris, IL. He was born on November 30th, 1915, the son of Jesse and Grace (Baldwin) Smith in Yankee Point, located in Love Township. Both his parents precede him in death. On January 9th, 1947, Harold married Helen Earls in Danville. She resides in Paris and will miss him dearly. Other survivors include: his son, James E. Smith of Ridge Farm; his daughter, Rosalee (Gene) Rigdon of Paris; his granddaughter, Deanna (Devin) Mason of Paris; and his two great grandchildren, Austin and Sydney Mason. His parents and his brother preceded him in death. Before farming, Harold enlisted in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a mechanic, working on the B-17s and the B-27 airplanes. He was a member of the Ridge Farm Friends Church as well as the Chrisman American Legion Post #477. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, reading, mushroom hunting and spending time with family and friends. A celebration of Harolds life is scheduled for 3:00pm on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home. Officiating: Pastor Dave LaBorde. Burial: Crown Hill Cemetery in Ridge Farm. Visitation will begin at 1:30 on Thursday, July 28, 2005 at the funeral home until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be donated in Harolds name to the Paris Crestwood School Library. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
