Harleyne J. Nixon, 76, of Danville, passed away on October 15, 2009, after a short battle with Leukemia at the Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mrs. Nixon was born on February 18, 1933, in Danville, the daughter of Mr. Harley and Mrs. Hettie (Porter) Hewes. On October of 1954, Harleyne married Mr. Harold E. Nixon. He preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors include five children, Archie (wife Dana) Nixon of Danville, Donna (husband Brett) Little of Danville, Diane (husband Doyle) White of Danville, Sandy (husband Dennis) Hamer of Danville, and Roberta (husband Jason) Renfrow of Fithian, IL. Her ten grandchildren, Jamie, Nick, Jeremy, Krystina, Jenny, Kayla, Kyle, Shannon, Shane, Jason, and several great-grandchildren also survive Harleyne, as well as her two brothers, Robert O. (wife Lynn) Hewes of Rockport, TX, Wayne P. Hewes of Tilton, her sister, Sandy (husband Charles) Shaw of Covington, IN, and her very special friend, Lou Rodriguez. Her parents, husband Harold, one son, Danny Wayne, and her four brothers, Warren, Jack, Richard, and Edward Hewes, precede Harleyne in death. Her most recent job was working at the former Hills Department Store in Danville. She also worked at the Sunbeam Bread Outlet Store in Danville for 13 years, and Allied Van lines Moving Services. She enjoyed making puzzles out of the family portraits, playing the card game, Bunko, camping, reading, crafts, and especially enjoying her children and grand children to which she adored very much. A Celebration of Mrs. Harleyne Nixons Life will begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Cornerstone Christian Church located at 1607 Greenwood Cemetery Road in Danville with Pastor Kevin Cox officiating. Burial will take place at Springhill Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 11:00am until time of service on Saturday at the church. Memorial donation may be made in her name to the Leukemia Department located in the Simons Cancer Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
