Harlan 'Punky' Ice

Harlan E. "Punky" Ice, 72, of Georgetown, passed away at 4:13pm, Saturday, July 11, 2015, at his home. He was born on November 4, 1942, in Danville the son of A. Clyde and Cleo {Whiles} Ice. He was united in marriage to Donna Evans on December 23, 1964, in Danville. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his children, Robby Ice of Woodridge, IL & Shelly Nale of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Michael Nale & Matthew Nale of Georgetown; his sister, Janet Nicholas of Danville; his sister-in-law, Bobbie (Bob) Grissom of Virden, IL; his niece, Paula Whittington of Danville; his nephew, David Nimrick of Jacksonville, IL; many other nieces & nephews; and his cousins, Jerry Whiles of Westville & Sharon Woods of Texas. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Robert Petty & his sister, Marybelle Nimrick. Punky worked at the Commercial News as a printer, later a Supervisor Dispatcher for various trucking companies. Recently, he worked for the Circuit Clerk's Office at the Vermilion County Courthouse. Punky served in the National Guard for 6 years and was a member of the Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Punky was a musician and inducted as a member of The Music in the Heartland Society. He played in several bands including, Spice & the 1959 Band. He enjoyed doing yardwork. He was always interested and loved listening to stories about his "grand chipmunk", Nigel. He cherished the times he spent with his family, especially his grandsons. A celebration of Punky's life will be held 4pm-8pm, Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown. Entombment will be held at 11am, Friday, July 17, 2015, at Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville. In lieu of flowers, family wishes memorial donations to be given to Wounded Warriors Foundation.
