Haidar Jimmy Abbed

Haidar Jimmy Abbed, 76, of Perrysville, IN passed away at 10:50 AM on August 2, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL, due to injuries sustained in car accident.

Jimmy was born on April 2, 1948 in Danville, IL the son of Muhammad J. and Fatema (Namari) Abbed. He married Lisa "Le" Smith on July 9, 1988 in Urbana and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa "Le" Abbed of Perrysville, IN, his sons, Jimmy Joe Louis Abbed (JJ), Joseph Richard Lynne Abbed (Joe), Mohammad Jakeb Haidar Abbed (Mo), and Bryan Ward Abbed, his grandchildren, Madison Le Annel Abbed, Hailey Ann Marie Abbed, Joseph Shaun Haidar Abbed, Grahm Michael Abbed, and Clayton Daniel, his siblings, Richard Z. Abbed, Joseph S. Abbed and Dalal Abbed Brown. Jimmy is also survived by his lifelong friend, Professor Larry Hilton as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents.

Jimmy worked in the Dietary Department at the Illinois Department of Corrections in Danville, IL. He and his wife, "Le", did everything together. They raised a family together, ran businesses together, and were always by each others side. Jimmy could cook anything and was known for his BBQ and his Arab Salad. In his younger years he obtained his 8th Degree Master in Ju Jitsu and was known as Professor Jimmy Abbed. Most of all, Jimmy loved his kids and grandkids dearly and was very proud of his family and heritage.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834. Chaplain Chris Easton and Sheik Khaled Elrouby will co-officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the funeral home.
