H. Richard Fippinger, 71, of Danville, died at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2006, at his home. Richard was born December 3, 1934, in Flushing, NY, the son of Henry and Gladys (Teufer) Fippinger. He married Judith Burns on August 10, 1957 in New York. She survives. Richard is survived by three sons, Stephen, Eric and David J. Fippinger; a sister, Janet Ramstad and five grandchildren, Alexandra, David R., Carolyn, Rachel and Scott Fippinger. Richard moved to Danville in 1989 as a consultant for Herrs from New York, where he was Account Group Supervisor for Leber Katz Advertising. Prior to his own business being established in 1982, he was Vice-President of Dunlop Sports, Director of New Business at the Hanes Corporation and spent 18 years as a buyer for Sears-Roebuck Company. While he was a buyer with Sears-Roebuck, Richard lived in Madrid, Spain for 4 years. Richard was a Captain in the Special Forces, Airborne Division. He was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church Finance Committee, the Danville Boat Club, the Danville Country Club, and the Danville Tennis Club. Richard enjoyed listening to opera as well as country music. He was a licensed single engine pilot and loved to travel. Richard also made over 100 round trips to China on new product development. A celebration of Richards life will be held with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 1st Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jimmy Hopper officiating. Burial will be in Kensico, NY. Memorials may be made in his name to American Cancer Society, American Lung Association or the Danville Symphony Orchestra.
