Guy Allen Hobick

Guy Allan Hobick was born March 1, 1937, in Danville and spent his childhood growing up in Fithian. Guy began serving our country in 1955 as a Marine in the United States Marine Corps. Guy married Sandy Lynn Oakwood on May 31, 1959 and they began their life together on a farm in Fithian. Guy and Sandy farmed and raised their two children, Kim and Josh in Fithian until 1986, when they moved to Newtown. Guy worked for and retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation. He enjoyed spending time with the love of his life and precious wife, Sandy. Side by side they would work on their flowers, take care of the hummingbirds and frequently visit the local truck stop for a hot cup of coffee and to talk with friends. Guy and Sandy enjoyed every minute of their life together. Their love was encouraging and contagious. He is survived by his daughter, Kim, son, Josh and wife Melissa, three grandchildren, Jessica and husband Seth, Keenan, and Alexandria, two great grandchildren, Ella and Carlee, brother Laurel and wife Donna, and sister Donna Cox. Guy loved Jesus and was ready to worship Him alongside his wife. Guy went home to be with Jesus on October 24, 2010. We will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Guys Life will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor Patti Wise officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. Memorials may be made to the Relais Bonne Eau Hospice, 7325 Marine Rd, Edwardsville, IL 62025. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
