Gregory Rogowski, 69, of Fithian, passed away at 4:20 PM on January 26, 2012 at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman, IL. Gregory was born on July 30, 1942 the son of John C. and Charlotte (Sarafin) Rogowski in Chicago, IL. He married Christel Petschak on January 3, 1998 in Urbana. She survives. He is survived by one daughter-Carrie (Dennis) Szumski of Princeton, IL, one stepson-Stephen (Kim) Cooper of Naples, FL, one stepdaughter- Claudia (Michael) Labrador of Ecuador, one sister Jacqueline (Walter) Andrzejewski of Chicago, one step grandson- Patrick Allen (Nikki) McConkey of Deland, IL and one step great-grandchild Greyson Joseph McConkey. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one step grandson. Gregory was a veteran of the United States Air Force then became a patrolman for the Chicago Police Department. After he left Chicago he became the Chief of Police in Kincaid, IL before moving to the Department of Corrections in Urbana where he retired in 2005. He loved horses, being outdoors, the farm and tractors. A Celebration of Greg's Life will take place at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Pastor Carl Marshall officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2012 at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers in Greg's name to the American Alzheimer's Association or Pleasant Meadows Christian Village.
