Danville Gregory (Greg) Donath, 68, of Danville, IL went home to be with the Lord June 12 peacefully and surrounded by family.
Greg was born January 9, 1953 to Frank and Betty (Snyder) Donath in Peoria, IL. Both preceded him death. Greg was in construction, and he partnered with his brother, Doug, in Donath Brothers Construction. Greg was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Elba-Salem Yates City Fire Department. Greg graduated from Lincoln Christian College as an ordained minister and Christian counsellor. He pastored a church in Thompson Falls, MT. After moving back to Illinois, he pastored at local churches.
Gregs love of people led him to be manager of Schultz House, Christian Counsellor at Crosspoint and later Drug and Alcohol counselling, a founding member Crisis Team and Drug Court Counselor for Prairie Center. After leaving Prairie Center, he went into Contractor Sales for Menards.
Among his many interests were his love of scroll sawing and wood working. With his talents, he created many beautiful pieces. He started a biker ministry with his wife, Judie, where they set up at rallies offering free food for the body and the Spiritual food for Soul. Together they established the Vermilion County chapter of Christian Motorcycle Association. They traveled all over while spreading the Word of Christ. Greg loved holidays and decorating for them. Their house inside and out was always lit up for everyones enjoyment. In 2011, Greg was diagnosed with lung cancer. June 25th would have been his 10-year survivor anniversary. Greg loved the honor of helping his daughter, Laura, with Beauty of Hope Pageant, an American Cancer Society fundraiser, and playing Santa for Toys for Tots.
On June 12, 1996, Greg met Judie Strohl and they married on June 14, 1997. Greg is survived by his wife, Judie, three daughters, Laura Bell (Eric), Chaille Smith, Ivy Donath and three sons Justin Donath, R.
