Greg Alan Hesler

Greg Alan Hesler, 59, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:13am, Thursday, May 19, 2016, at his home. He was born on February 7, 1957, in Danville, the son of Dean and Norma (Wakeland) Hesler. Greg spent the first 5 years of his life in and out of Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children in St. Louis, MO. Greg who was lovingly nicknamed, Arbuckle, graduated from Georgetown High School in 1975. He worked as an Operating Engineer and belonged to the Operating Engineers Local #841. He was a NASCAR fan and loved to watch sports of any kind and he also enjoyed going to games. Greg was known for his welcoming nature and had many friends throughout his life. He was a past member of the Vermilion Heights Methodist Church and attended the First United Methodist Church in Danville. Greg will be dearly missed by: his parents, Dean & Norma Hesler of Danville; his siblings, Rita Dalbey, Brad (Laura Hill) Hesler, & Cheryl Winland, all of Danville; his several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; his many special friends including, the Potter Family and Debbie Dill and her girls of Kokomo, IN. He also leaves behind his dog and best friend, Maddox. He was preceded in death by: his maternal & paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Wakeland and Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Hesler; and his nephew, Justin. A celebration of Greg's life will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Pastor Zach LeCrone officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Monday, May 23, 2016, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville. Memorial donations may be given in Greg's name to Shriner's Hospital or Vermilion County Animal Shelter.
