Grace Davis

Grace A. Davis 96, of Danville passed away at 9:25 PM on Sunday December 27, 2015 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring Florida with family by her side. Grace was born September 15, 1919 the daughter of John and Anna (Boyd) Gilliland. On October 15, 1939 she married the love of her life Edwin M. Davis (deceased 2012). Grace worked at Millikins Dry Cleaners before she met Ed, and after they married they started and operated Davis TV and Appliance and later started MarSue Furniture in 1968 with their son Marvin. Ed and Grace moved to Lehigh Acres, Florida in 1973 and started a construction business building screen rooms and pool enclosures. Grace was right by Ed's side helping him everyday. In 1984, Ed and Grace moved back to Danville and spent their winters in California as well as Florida. Grace was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ where her special niece, Lorene Sawyer, would take her every month for the church luncheons. She greatly enjoyed doing that. The last two years Grace has spent winters in Florida, with her son Marvin and Debi, which she dearly loved the warm weather and sitting in her rocker outside watching the people go by everyday. The warm weather and NO SNOW she really loved. Grace is survived by her son Marvin E. (Debi) Davis of Danville, Illinois and Daniel L. (Kim) Davis of Costa Mesa, California. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) Davis, Brianna (Daniel) Warner and Heather (Jim) Spencer and six great grandchildren. Grace is survived by her sisters, Audrey Baker of Oakwood, Dorothy Dow of Memphis and a brother John Gilliland of Georgetown. Grace was preceded in death by her loving husband Edwin, her parents, and her sisters and brothers Mabel, Marilla, Mildred, James, Conrad and Eugene. A Celebration of Grace's Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday January 3, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Pastor Darren Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM prior to service. Private burial will take place on Monday January 4, 2016 at Jones Grove Cemetery in Catlin.
