Gordon L. Powell

Gordon L. Powell, 75, of Danville, passed away at 4:12p.m., Friday, January 5,2007 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home. Gordon was born July 25,1931 in Danville, the son of Harry W. and Eva A McClatchey Powell. On July 25, 1950 he married Patricia A Watrous in Watseka. She Survives. Gordon is also survived by his sons; Wade Lee (Margaret) Powell, of Bradenton,FL and Matt Douglas (Donna) Powell of Indianola; daughters; Cindy (Glen) Brown of Danville, Penny McBride (Dick McBride) of Caseyville,IL, and Sandra (Tom) Heath of Catlin; Grandchildren; Mike Schingel, Tony Taylor, Jennifer and Ashley Strebing, Tammy Brown (Troy Lemon), Kayleigh (Josh) Wilson, Nick Powell, and Stacey Taylor; 7 Great Grandchildren; one brother Lester (Sonya) Powell of Danville and sisters Mary Ritter of Coal City,IL and Eleanor (Monty) Jenkins of Danville; Special friends; Heather Powell, Tony Shuman and Kenny Eades. He was preceded by his parents, 2 sisters, 5 brothers and 1 grandson Ryan McBride. Gordon retired from the maintenance dept. with the C&M,StP&P Railroad . He also was a member of the Musicians Local and enjoyed playing with several bands in the area over the years. A celebration of Gordons life will be held at 10:00a.m., Tuesday, January 8,2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Officiating Pastor Dave Garver.
