Gordon K. "Beanie" Biggs, 94, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:25am, December 23, 2017 at the VA Illiana Healthcare Systems Palliative Care. He was born October 23, 1923 in Georgetown, the son of Lee and Gertie Thornton Biggs. He married Betty Howe on August 10, 1946 in Georgetown, she will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his two daughters, Brenda (Bob) Hueston and Susan (Lee) Reinier, both of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Amber (Dave) Colt, David (Ann) Keith, Brian Hueston, Carrie (JJ) Jett, Brody Potter, Kacy (Dave) Harris, Susy Jensen, Cindy Smith, Julie (Darrell) Lynch and James Reinier; his 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. He was preceded by: his parents; three brothers; and two grandsons, Travis Potter and Kai Harris. Beanie was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Georgetown Friends Church, Georgetown American Legion Dornblaser Post #203, Eastern Illinois and Western Indiana Shrine Club. Beanie was one of the builders of the 24man Shriners bike. He was a 32 Degree Mason with Russell Lodge 154. Beanie had owned and operated the former Shell and Marathon gas station in Georgetown for 40 years. He was an avid Cubs fan, fisherman and gardener and enjoyed gathering walnuts and shelling them. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. A celebration of Beanie's life will be held at 10:30am Thursday December 28, 2017 at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown with Pastor John Myers officiating. Visitation will be held 5:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday December 27, 2017 at the Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30pm by Russell Lodge at visitation. He will be laid to rest in the Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Georgetown Friends Church or The Shriner's Children's Hospital.
